In keeping with Halloween and creepy noises, we were called to a strange noise in a house in Ballsbridge recently.
The noise was a low pitched noise that seemed to be coming from inside a wall. At first it wouldn't bother someone but after a while it does really start to be very annoying.
Initially we checked out smoke alarms, checked closets, and the alarm wasnt working right but it didn't seem to be cominng from there. Sometimes the plumbing can emit a pitch, known as water hammer, but it's usually more of a rumble or a rattle.
We even turned off the water coming in to the house, turned off all the electricity but all to no avail.
Eventually Steven our super sensor detector, was of the opinion it was coming from under the floorboards in the hot press. So he pulled the carpet back, lifted the boards and sure enough there in front of his eyes was an old smoke alarm that somehow found it's way under the boards.
So the house wasn't haunted after all and everyone was able to sleep silently in their beds thereafter.
